Certificate of Capital Importation (“CCI”) is issued to foreign investors who bring in funds by wire transfer through banks in Nigeria for investing purpose. The Bank through which the fund is received would issue to the investor a certificate of capital importation subject to the prescribed documentation. The CCI confers a right to the investor to repatriate dividends or capital gains arising from their investment in Nigeria through any Nigerian bank.
The beneficiary (Afrinvest Equity Fund) applies for the CCI on behalf of the client. Please note that in transferring the funds it is important that purpose of the funds be specifically stated:
- Name of transferor [i.e. foreign investor]
- Amount Transferred [ – minimum of $5,000.00 or equivalent in GBP or Euros]
- Purpose [Capital Importation for Equity Investment]
- Beneficiary [Afrinvest Equity Fund]
Regulatory requirements for Investor for issuance of CCI;
- Wire transfer or telex advising payment must state clearly that it is for “Capital Importation for Equity Investment”.
